How Sightline Windows & Doors Weston Was Born in Weston

We remember the exact afternoon in late 2012 when we knew Weston needed something different. A homeowner on Bonaventure Boulevard had called three companies about a sliding glass door that wouldn’t seal. Two never showed. The third sent a salesman who measured for ten minutes, quoted $4,200, and couldn’t explain why the number was double what the first company had quoted over the phone. The homeowner was a nurse with two kids, working a double that weekend, and she was near tears in her own kitchen.

Call (754) 812-9260

We were already working in the trade then, and we drove over after our last job to look. The track was packed with coral rock grit from Weston’s soil, the rollers had seized, and the weatherstripping had baked to plastic in the Florida sun. It was a $340 repair, not a $4,200 replacement. We fixed it that evening. She handed us a check and said, “Why is this so hard?”

That question sat with us for months. Weston was growing fast - new construction in the Ranches, older homes in Country Isles needing real attention, families buying their first place and getting sold products they didn’t need. The window and door business here ran on showroom promises that evaporated at install, on phone quotes that doubled when the truck arrived, on treating glass like a commodity and the customer like a number.

We called Sightline that winter. The brand was already running in other markets, built on a glazier’s frustration with exactly this problem: the measurement and the quote should be the same document. We opened our Weston branch in early 2013 because this city, with its mix of new money and old Florida neighborhoods, deserved a crew that showed up with a tape measure and left with the price in writing. That nurse on Bonaventure Boulevard became our first referral. She still calls us when her neighbors need work.

Sonia Raman’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade

I got into this work sideways. I was studying architecture at FAU, spending weekends helping a tradesman who installed storefront systems along Sawgrass Mills. He was a man of few words who measured everything twice and cursed when the factory cut glass a sixteenth short. I loved the precision. The smell of silicone on a hot day. The way light changes when you set a new pane - how a room suddenly breathes.

I dropped out after two years. Not because I lacked ambition, but because I found what I was actually good at. The tradesman who trained us let me run my first solo job in 2009, a broken casement in a Davie ranch house. I was twenty-two, sweating through my shirt, and when that window opened smooth for the first time in a decade, the homeowner - an older woman named Mrs. Castellanos - made me lemonade and talked about her husband who’d installed the original in 1974. I understood then that this work holds memory. You’re not just swapping a frame. You’re preserving how someone lives in their space.

For over a decade now, that’s what gets me up. The jobs that look simple and aren’t. The 1980s aluminum window in Weston Hills that’s been caulked six times by six different handymen, and we finally figure out the wall settled and the rough opening shifted. The French door in Southwest Ranches that eleven companies said couldn’t be fixed, and we spend a Saturday shimming the jamb until it closes like a vault. I love the problem more than the solution. If I weren’t doing this, I’d probably be restoring old boats in the Keys, working with my hands on something that has to fit exactly or it fails.

What I don’t love - what I actively hate - is the moment a customer realizes they’ve been played. The hesitation in their voice when they ask if the price will change. The way they flinch when a salesman pushes “impact-rated” on a bathroom window that faces a fence. That hesitation is why we joined Sightline. The Haven Standard exists because someone decided the customer’s fear was the industry’s fault, and the fix was documentation, not charm.

Meet Sonia Raman - The Person Behind Every Job

Sonia Raman, Owner and Founder of Sightline Windows & Doors Weston. I started in the field, installing, and I still walk every job before we quote it. My training came from a decade of measuring, cutting, sealing, and fixing what other crews rushed through. I’m state-licensed, our operation is insured and bonded, and every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance Florida requires.

What makes me different from a corporate franchise technician? I still carry a tape measure in my truck. I still call customers back personally when there’s a problem. I garden on weekends - orchids, mostly, because they demand the same patience as a stubborn retrofit window. I believe a written number is a promise, and a promise kept is how you build a business in a city where your next customer is your last customer’s neighbor.

My commitment to you is direct: when you call (754) 812-9260, you get a live coordinator who connects you with our local team. I review every written estimate before it goes out. And I stand behind every install we complete in Weston, because my name is on the truck.

Our Promise to Weston Homeowners

Our values aren’t posters on a wall. They’re policies we enforce.

Honest pricing. We name the price range on the page, in dollars, because Clause 1 of the Haven Standard - Have it in writing - means the number you see is the number you pay. In 2019, a homeowner in Plantation called us after another company added $1,800 for “unforeseen structural issues” that were visible from the driveway. We wrote our quote to exclude that possibility, and we still do.

Quality parts. We install CWS and ES Windows systems because we’ve watched how they perform in Broward’s salt air and afternoon thunderstorms. We don’t swap in ECO Window Systems or Mr-Glass products unless the job specifically calls for them, and we explain why when they do.

Standing behind every job. Our workmanship warranty is written, dated, and attached to your invoice. No “call the manufacturer” runaround. If we installed it, we fix it.

Our Credentials

Modern floor-to-ceiling glass wall installation in luxury home
Our Credentials

State-licensed. We maintain the contractor licensing Florida requires for window and door installation. This matters because unlicensed work in your home voids your homeowners insurance if water intrusion causes damage later. We pull permits when the job requires them, and we pass inspections.

Insured and bonded. Our general liability and workers compensation coverage protects your property and our crew while we’re on your site. One in four window contractors in South Florida operates without adequate coverage. We are not among them.

Years of local experience. We’ve worked in Weston and the surrounding communities since opening this branch. We know how the limestone substrate in Southwest Ranches affects foundation settling and window alignment. We know which Pembroke Pines subdivisions built in the 2004 boom used contractor-grade vinyl that fails at the welds. That knowledge only comes from time on the ground.

Strong local reputation. Our customers find us through neighbors, through the Nextdoor posts we didn’t write, through the photos we document on every job and the written estimates they keep. We don’t buy reviews. We earn calls.

Every credential above exists for one reason: you’re letting strangers cut holes in your home. You deserve to know who they are, what they carry, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Rooted in Weston

We’re not tourists here. Our trucks run Bonaventure Boulevard and Arvida Parkway weekly. We’ve worked in the Ranches where the lots are five acres and the doors are twelve feet tall, and in the townhomes near Weston Town Center where every inch of glass faces a shared wall. We know the afternoon thunderstorms that blow from the Everglades and test every seal we’ve installed.

Weston is where we opened. It’s where we learned that Florida’s building code changes mean yesterday’s “hurricane-ready” window might not pass today’s inspection. And it’s where we’ll be when you need us again.
